Job Title: Transportation Monitor

Location: Transportation Services

Job Group: Union, Support Staff

Pay Level: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Transportation Supervisor 

 

Summary:  To assist in providing safe transportation of assigned students to and from designated locations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Assists assigned student(s) with entering and exiting the school district vehicle and while commuting.  Operates lifts for wheelchairs.
  2. Secures special equipment and school-related materials that may accompany the student.
  3. Is alert to any conditions in the land and unloading area that present a danger to students and others.
  4. Facilitates good student conduct while enroute and follows District protocols for discipline.  Reports any concerns or issues to the Supervisor and/or Administrator in a timely manner.
  5. Communicates in an appropriate fashion with students, parents, and employees.
  6. Assists the driver, as needed.
  7. Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Education and/or Experience: High school graduate or a General Education Diploma (GED) is required.  Two or more years' experience working with school aged children is desired.  An Associate's degree in childcare or related field may be substituted for actual work experience at the discretion of the supervisor.

 

Certificates, Licenses and/or Certificates:  Current Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI); Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), and First Aid Certification is required.

 

 

Other Skills and Abilities:  Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students.  Ability to physically manage students and equipment.  Ability to observe unusual student behavior and advise the Supervisor.  Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and School Board policies as it relates to the job responsibilities is essential.
